An original vintage MG lapel badge which will have been produced in the late 1950s or early 1960s .

We have just this one example to offer – when this lapel badge has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

A rare survivor of an item which was probably quite common in MG circles 60 years ago .

This is the only example of an original MG lapel badge which we have ever listed – being a very small item produced around 60 years ago we would expect that almost all MG lapel badges like this one will have been lost long since .

The lapel badge is in good physical condition but has lost some of the red vitreous enamel as can be seen in the listing photos .

It measures 3/4″ ( 20mm ) in diameter

It will almost certainly have been made in Birmingham at the time – probably by J.Fray or Fattorini .

The horseshoe shaped appendage on the back fits through the lapel ‘buttonhole’ of the wearer’s jacket.

In the late 1950s & early 1960s owners of MG cars would almost certainly be wearing a sports jacket at any social event and a subtle little badge like this would be sufficient for like-minded owners to recognise one another at events .

Contrast this to the current fashion of proclaiming ownership ( or lack of ownership ! ) of vehicles with garish artwork on tee-shirts etc – not to mention tattoos !

The lapel badge in the photos is the actual one which you will receive .
