Mini Clubman – original vintage new old stock early 1970s keyring A

NOW SOLD – sorry this keyring has now been sold and can no longer be ordered

An original Mini Clubman keyring which will have been produced in the early 1970s .

Just this one keyring A available in this listing – when this keyring A has been sold this listing will be cancelled ( we are also listing keyring B in a separate listing unless now sold )

The first BMC Minis were badged as either Austin or Morris but from the Mark III variant from 1969 onwards was launched as a marque in it’s own right .

Keyrings for the earlier Austin & Morris minis can be found in the Austin & Morris sections of this online shop.

This is an original new old stock keyring which will date from the very early 1970s – it has been stored for almost 50 years .

Made by the Freeline Badgemaking Co. of Bristol and marked ‘Made in England’ on the back of the badge .

The vitreous enamelling on the badge on this particular keyring is perfect apart from a small dark mark within the light blue enamel which can be seen in the enlarged high resolution photos .

In the early 1970s the enamel was still being individually hand laid and flaws did arise – all part of the charm of an original vintage keyring !

The keyfob which the badge is mounted onto is in genuine black leather.

One of our customers is an authority on Minis and has been in contact to tell us that strictly speaking the Mini Clubman badge had a longer shield and that the badge was also used for Mini Mark 3 and Clubman in the 1970s – obviously Freeline who made the keyring used a shorter shield for their keyfob badge ( probably because it fitted inside a circular keyfob badge better .)

He goes on to say that in the Austin and Morris era, there were various models of minis produced, such as Cooper, Cooper S and etc… but they are mostly put together in the BMLC era.

He thinks that these short shield badges like the badge on this keyring will be correct for all the Minis produced in 70s BLMC era.

The badge design was used on the Clubman but other minis produced at that time also had it.

All very confusing to us – thank goodness we have customers who know a lot more about the cars than we do !

The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive. SMOSO  00/54   11/24
