Moto Guzzi -black vitreous enamel badge mounted onto a new keyfob in tan pigskin leather

A black vitreous enamel Moto Guzzi keyfob badge in brand new condition which will have been produced in Birmingham within the last few years which we have mounted onto a new leather keyfob as can be seen in the photos .

This is NOT an original vintage badge – it will have been produced just a few years ago and is not to be confused with an original vintage badge  – this badge was made much later.

We have just this one keyring with this badge to offer  – when it has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

Superb quality ‘old school’ vitreous enamel badges like this one were produced in Birmingham  with ‘MADE IN ENGLAND’ marked on the reverse of the badge – probably from an original badge die – and were available up until quite recently .

We have remounted this badge onto a new keyfob in genuine tan pigskin leather as can be seen in the photos .

Pigskin leather was ( and is ) a luxury material which was used for keyrings in the 1960s and 1970s – generally for prestige vehicles such as Jaguar and Aston Martin on account of it’s appearance but also for motorcycles on account of the leather’s durability in all weathers on an open motorcycle .

The pigskin leather which we have is vintage material itself – it came from a closed Midlands factory which had been using it to produce wallets, keyrings and hip flasks ……….remember those ??

Sadly vitreous enamel badges like this one are apparently no longer produced in England .

This badge is very similar to the keyfob badges which were originally produced  – but this badge is not an original badge, it was produced much later .

New reproduction badges will now usually be produced in modern resin based enamel – not vitreous enamel like this one – they are most unlikely to have ‘MADE IN ENGLAND’ marked on the reverse because they are no longer made in England .

Maybe one day in the future beautiful quality vitreous enamel badges like these will once again be made in England ……………………..but the areas where the workshops once stood have now generally been built over with housing estates and the craftsmen with their knowledge and skills have gone .
