MV Agusta – original vintage 1970s? lapel badge mounted onto a new leather keyfob – collector’s item

An original MV Agusta vitreous enamel lapel badge which we would think will have been produced during the 1970s which we have adapted for mounting onto a leather keyfob whilst not altering the badge and retaining the possibility of it being re-used again as a lapel badge .

Obviously we have just this one keyring with this badge to offer – when it has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

We would not usually describe a remounted badge as a ‘ collector’s item ‘ – but the lapel badge within this keyfob is such a significant item and is still intact for removal from the keyfob that we have decided to bend the rules for just this once .

In the almost 20 years which we have run this business we have only ever seen just one original MV Agusta keyring !

As can be seen – this keyring is not actually an original keyring .

It is an original lapel badge which we would think will date from the 1970s which we have mounted onto a keyfob in black leather .

Lapel badges are no longer ‘ de rigeur ‘ – very few people wear jackets with lapels any more so in many ways this badge had become redundant .

Photos of the original badge with the threaded post and nut are included in the listing photos .

The badge is in lovely condition with jewellery quality vitreous enamelling and with quite a degree of curvature .

Within the keyfob we have used a leather insert skived to that curvature so that the badge fits snugly to the face of the leather keyfob .

The threaded post passes through this and the leather has been relieved in way of the thin washer with the nut tightened up and visible on the reverse of the keyfob .

The nut is inset in the leather – so a small leather plug on the reverse of the keyfob covers the nut as can be seen in the final listing photo .

The keyring can be used as intended but the original lapel badge can be removed intact from the leather keyfob at a later stage if so desired by simply cutting the stitching thread and parting the leather , undoing the nut and removing the lapel badge .

Needless to say – the keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive – the listed price takes into account the value of the lapel badge rather than it now being a keyring .
