Original vintage new old stock 1960s Henlys Jaguar dealership keyring by Fattorini of Birmingham – collector’s item

£325.00

1 in stock

An original vintage Henlys keyring in new old stock condition which we would think will have been produced in the early to mid 1960s .

We have just this one new old stock example of this keyring in the photos to offer -when this keyring has been sold this listing will be cancelled

Quite a number of these original Henlys keyrings have survived and examples do come to market and we have listed and sold many examples over the years .

As stated later in this listing description not all are in mint condition as most were used as intended in the cars which they were issued with .

Henlys had their keyrings produced by several manufacturers at the time – most of whom did not mark the reverse of the badges .

The very best keyrings were produced by Fattorini , Bradbury or J. Fray .

This particular keyring in this listing is the very best one which we have ever listed – condition is almost mint ( a small amount of the plating on the reverse of the badge has rubbed off as happened in many cases ) and it was produced by Fattorini .

The ghost of St. Christopher the patron Saint of travellers can be seen beneath the translucent gold vitreous enamel.

Even the splitring is gilt plated to match the plating on the badge – a tiny detail often missed by other manufacturers .

Simply superb and true ‘ collector grade ‘ for those who will only settle for the very best .

This keyring is in new old stock condition and is only the 2nd Henlys keyring in this condition which we have ever listed over the years.

The keyring is completely original & with the vitreous enamel badge mounted onto the original leather keyfob just as it would have been issued with a new Jaguar motor car from the dealership in the 1960s.

Two keyrings were often issued with each new car – one would have been used in the car whilst the 2nd one often remained unused in a drawer at the owner’s home or was simply left in the glove box.

This will probably be that 2nd keyring .

The badge is in jewellery quality vitreous enamel and is magnificent and is mounted onto a simple keyfob in genuine black leather .

Henlys keyrings and badges do come on the market from time to time but the badges almost always have loss of enamel .

Almost all Henlys keyfob badges which have seen some use will have enamel loss at the bottom corners of the badge – the badge on this keyring is perfect as you would expect .

When buying a Henlys keyring ( unless it is very well priced and you are not too bothered about the keyring having a perfect badge ) it is most important to check this point .

In the early to mid 1960s Henlys generally had their keyrings made by P.R.Bradbury, J.Fray or Fattorini & Sons – all three in Birmingham.

By the late 1960s many of the Henlys keyfob badges were being made without a maker’s name .

Henlys Jaguar/Rover dealership was founded in 1947 by Herbert Henly.

The original premises gave it’s name to Henlys Corner on the London North Circular Road and also Henlys Roundabout in Hounslow.

Goodness knows how many Jaguar cars will have passed through the dealership in the 1950s & 1960s.

Needless to say – Bud Marston has a section in his ‘Vintage Jaguar Keyrings’ book featured here in this website shop describing Henlys keyrings.

The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive.
