An original Peugeot keyring which will have been produced in the 1960s .

We have just this one example of this keyring to offer – when it has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

This is the only completely original Simons Concessionaires / Freeline Peugeot keyring still with it’s original leather keyfob which we have ever listed although we have seen similar keyrings for  prestige marques like Mercedes Benz & Jaguar .

This keyring is in excellent new old stock condition with a vitreous enamel shield badge mounted onto a keyfob in genuine black leather .

Whilst being new old stock very close inspection will reveal a very slight loss of nickel plating on the right hand edge of the badge – had we not mentioned this you would probably have not spotted it without a magnifying glass !

This can be seen in the enlarged high resolution listing photos but does not detract from the collectability of the keyring as flaws like this were common with new keyrings at the time .

These very distinctive shield shaped vitreous enamel badges were produced by Simons Concessionaires of London in the late 1950s and this particular badge has been mounted onto a genuine black leather keyfob by Freeline of Bristol – probably in the 1960s .

We would think that Freeline received the unsold stock of badges when Simons closed for business in the early 1960s and then mounted them onto their own leather keyfobs as we have seen similar Simons shield badges mounted onto Freeline leather keyfobs .

Freeline’s keyfobs were also distinctive being in this exact particular shape + stitching and in this very close grained black leather where the surface of the leather had been stripped off to allow a very consistent finish free of any natural grain & imperfections – known as ‘corrected grain’ leather .

The reverse of the badge is marked ‘MADE IN ENGLAND’ – at that time almost all car keyrings were produced in England – it was quite an industry .

The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive and will be original & correct for any 1960s Peugeot motor car .
