1 in stock
An original Porsche keyfob badge which will have been produced during the late 1960s or early 1970s which we have remounted onto a new leather keyfob .
We have just this one keyring with this badge to offer – when it has been sold this listing will be cancelled .
This vitreous enamel badge is in excellent condition apart from a tiny loss of enamel at the edge of the ‘STUTGART’ section .
So far as we can see this is not an enamel chip as such – it looks to be a void in the enamel which will have happened during the firing process as the badge was made over 50 years ago .
This can be seen in the enlarged high resolution listing photos but is not actually that obvious when viewed in the hand at life size .
Apart from the flaw just mentioned the vitreous enamel badge is of exceptional quality with jewellery quality enamelling – just look at the enlarged high resolution listing photos of the badge showing the precision and definition of the enamelling !
The fine criss-cross texture cast into the reverse of the badge together with the ‘MADE IN ENGLAND’ statement within a rectangular panel tells us that this badge will have been produced during the very late 1960s or early 1970s .
The top enamel section is in white enamel which was discontinued in the early 1970s coinciding with the introduction of the impact bumper 911 .
‘ MADE IN ENGLAND’ marked on the back of the badge – 50 years ago almost all keyrings and keyfob badges for the world’s cars were produced in England – it was quite an industry .
We have chosen to mount the badge onto an individually hand cut bespoke keyfob to suit the badge ( in the late 1960s & early 1970s the familiar Porsche shield shaped keyfob had yet to appear )
We have chosen the classic rectangular keyfob shape which was in general use at the time and sized it to suit the badge perfectly and set out and hand stitched to suit .
For this keyfob we have used some vintage leather which we now have in stock – this is leather which itself is over 50 years old with a beautiful characterful grain which can be seen in the photos . We have re-dyed the leather with spirit dye to achieve a deep black finish .
The split ring which we have chosen is a flat splitring with a heavy nickel plated finish .
The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive .
