Porsche – original vintage 1970s new old stock Renamel keyring

NOW SOLD – sorry this keyring has now been sold and can no longer be ordered

An original Porsche keyring which will have been produced in the 1970s .

We have just this one example to offer – when it has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

We did have 4 of these keyrings some time ago – all of which have now been sold .

We now have just one more example to offer .

This keyring is in new old stock condition with an acrylic dome badge mounted onto a keyfob in genuine black leather .

The leather keyfob has a glossy grained texture and does resemble faux leather ………………but is actually genuine leather !

Made by Renamel of London who were the first keyring manufacturer to offer keyrings like these with acrylic dome badges  .

Their earliest keyrings were marked ‘RENAMEL’ – like this one .

These badges were quite a revelation at the time and did not chip when dropped onto a hard surface like the usual vitreous enamel keyfob badges .

Renamel used quite an original method of mounting their badges onto their early keyfobs as can be seen in the photos.

The badge has a close spaced double slot through which the badge strap is passed – which effectively locks the badge onto the strap .

Very simple and did work well but it seems Renamel did later change to a more conventional method of mounting badges onto keyfobs .

Strictly speaking the Porsche crest with a white top bar represents 1960s and very early 1970s cars – it is generally agreed that the white top bar was discontinued at the time when 911s went over to the impact bumper .

Manufacturers of keyrings were sometimes a bit slow to change badge designs in line with badge design changes by the car manufacturer  – these keyrings were probably produced a year or two after the change was made . SMOSO  00/521   11/24
