Porsche – original vintage 1970s Renamel keyring – collector’s item

£175.00

An original Porsche keyring which will have been produced in the 1970s .

We have just this one example of this scarce early Renamel keyring to offer – when it has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

This keyring is in really excellent condition and has been used very little if it has been used at all – quite a find .

The acrylic dome badge is mounted onto a black keyfob in the classic rectangular shape .

We would think that the keyfob is in genuine black leather but we are not entirely sure – very difficult to tell in this case !

If not – then it is in a very good grade of faux leather .

Made by Renamel of London who were the first keyring manufacturer to offer keyrings like these with acrylic dome badges  .

The reverse of the badge on their  earliest keyrings was marked ‘ renamel  london –  england ‘  in their distinctive early lower case font like this one .

Later keyrings were marked ‘ renamel – made in england ‘ and then they stopped marking the badges altogether ………..so this is a very early example of one of their keyrings although they were now mounting the badges onto the keyfobs conventionally with a little strap retaining the badge onto the keyfob .

Their very earliest keyrings used a slightly different method of attachment and we have recently sold one of these .

These badges were quite a revelation at the time and did not chip when dropped onto a hard surface like the usual vitreous enamel keyfob badges .

Strictly speaking the Porsche crest with a white top bar represents 1960s and very early 1970s cars – it is generally agreed that the white top bar was discontinued at the time when 911s went over to the impact bumper .

Manufacturers of keyrings were sometimes a bit slow to change badge designs in line with badge design changes by the car manufacturer  – this keyring was probably produced a year or two after the change was made .

The keyring in the photos is the actual keyring which you will receive and will be original & correct for use with 1970s Porsche 911 and also early 1976 onwards 924.
