Porsche – original vintage late 1970s ? very early ‘Heubach’ keyring in very well used road worn condition – collector’s item

An original Porsche keyring which we would think will have been produced in the late 1970s .

Just this one very early ‘Heubach’ keyring in this very well used road worn condition to offer – when it has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

This keyring is the only very early example of one of these keyrings which we have ever listed and it can be seen that the leather keyfob is ‘slope shouldered’ and considerably smaller than the later ‘Heubach’ keyrings – see the final listing photo showing this keyring next to a later version .

This keyring is in very well used condition with a vitreous enamel crest badge mounted onto a keyfob in genuine dove grey leather .

The badge is identical to the badges fitted to the later keyrings .

Apart from the original gilt plating having worn through to the bright nickel plating below – the vitreous enamel badge is in remarkably good shape.

However the same cannot be said for the leather keyfob which has become very well worn after a life on the road .

Apart from general wear the little leather hinge has all but worn through and there is a split developing in the leather at the top of the keyfob where the splitring passes through – all of this can be seen in the enlarged high resolution photos .

This is a keyring for the serious Porsche keyring collector as an example of a very early ‘Heubach’ keyring – it is not expected that a customer would buy this keyring to use in a car – although that could be done very sparingly ( Sunday afternoons only )

A few years ago keyrings in this condition would not have been considered saleable at all but the market has changed very dramatically with collectors looking for keyrings like this one particularly for interesting cars like Porsche .

It is remarkable that the previous owner of this keyring actually continued to use it up to the point where something was bound to break – but keyrings like this one have often become talismans which have accompanied their owner on all their journeys through life .

If only a keyring like this one could talk…………

The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive ( just the early keyring described above – not the later new old stock Heubach keyring photographed with it of course ! )

A friend looking over my shoulder as this keyring was being listed asked ” How on earth can you be bothered to list an old keyring in THAT condition ??? ”

It was pointless even beginning to explain and many who have been bothered to read this far might agree .
