Porsche – original vintage late 1980s/ early 1990s vitreous enamel ‘heubach’ hinged crest keyring with grey leather keyfob

£105.00

1 in stock

An original Porsche keyring which we would think will have been produced in the late 1980s or early 1990s .

We are offering just this one used condition late 1980s/ early 1990s heubach keyring in this leather colour  – when it has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

We did list and sell a similar keyring very recently – it was in slightly less used condition and was listed and sold at a correspondingly higher price .

These original Porsche ‘heubach’ hinged crest keyrings are original & correct for use with a wide range of Porsche cars – but finding keyrings in good serviceable condition is becoming a challenge.

This keyring is in grey leather and is in good serviceable condition – these keyrings were actually supplied to be used rather than to be stored away to become collector’s items in 40 years time !

The vitreous enamel badge has enamel in absolutely perfect condition which is the most important thing .

The thin ‘whiff’ of gilt plating originally applied to the badge has worn to reveal the bright nickel plating underneath – this invariably happened within a very short space of time when these keyrings were used .

The stitching is in excellent condition .

As is usual with these keyrings which have had some use – the little leather strap which retains the badge onto the keyfob has some slight wear as it is at the highest point on the front of the keyfob and there is wear to the leather where the leather is doubled over at the top of the keyfob where the splitring passes through .

All this can be seen in the enlarged high resolution listing photos .

The shape of the leather keyfob has a very slightly stubbier shield shape than the later ‘heubach’ keyrings – a very small detail but noticeable when you have seen a few of the later keyrings .

These earlier ‘heubach’ keyrings with this stubbier shape do not often appear in good condition like this one  – probably because they were produced a few years earlier and have had more time to wear out.

Additionally the earlier cars were often daily drivers at a time when owners just had the one car and not a ‘go to work’ car and also a weekend car -so the earlier keyrings were used as intended .

There is a world of difference between a carefully used keyring like this one and one which has been roughly used with chipped enamel & damaged leather .

The keyring has the internal ‘plumping’ which all these ‘heubach’ keyrings had.

Many customers do prefer a keyring which has ‘ had a life’ like this one rather than a mint new old stock item .

These original ‘heubach’ Porsche crest keyrings with a vitreous enamel badge hinged onto a genuine leather keyfob with a little leather strap have now become very sought after .

The keyrings were usually originally produced with a black or slate grey leather keyfob .

Please do not confuse these keyrings with the modern Porsche keyrings with the badge bonded ( not hinged ) onto the surface of the keyfob and now produced in a very wide range of colours .

It is difficult to date these keyrings exactly as they had a long period of issue but we are advised by one of our customers in Germany that most probably date from the 1990s – particularly the slate grey ones whilst those in black leather could be earlier – we are grateful for his input.

Keyrings like this one will be original & correct for use with 1980s 911 SCs & Carrera 3.2s , together with early Carrera 964 and also 928, 994, 968 and early Boxster .

Original examples of these keyrings do appear on internet auction sites from time to time and sometimes at exorbitant prices – but rarely in particularly good condition

Over the last few years the price of classic Porsche motor cars has risen before finally levelling out -this has been reflected in the demand for original keyrings like these to accompany those cars.

The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive.
