Porsche – original vintage new old stock 1970s renamel keyring with acrylic badge – collector’s item

NOW SOLD – sorry this keyring has now been sold and can no longer be ordered

An original Porsche keyring which will have been produced in the 1970s .

When this keyring has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

An original Porsche keyring which will have been made by Renamel Ltd of Kilburn High Road, London ( then moved to Honeypot Lane , London )

This keyring is in brand new condition and will be new old stock with an acrylic dome badge mounted onto a keyfob in black faux leather .

There is a small air bubble encapsulated within the acrylic resin over the ‘R’ of ‘PORSCHE’ – this was not unusual in early acrylic badges.

This can be seen in the enlarged high resolution listing photos but is not particularly noticeable when viewed with the naked eye at life size.

‘REAL LEATHER’ is gold embossed onto the back of the keyfob…………………………this deception was common practice in the 1970s before Trades Descriptions legislation had grown teeth – the keyfob is of course not genuine leather !

Renamel were the first to make keyrings with these acrylic badges which have lasted very well over the years and do have the advantage over the more traditional vitreous enamel badges in that they do not chip if dropped onto a hard concrete floor !

Renamel’s earliest keyrings had ‘ made in england ‘ on the reverse of the badge – as this one has .

Later on the reverse of their badges was left plain.

This keyring will be original & correct for use with any late 1960s or 1970s Porsche motor car and the Porsche crest on the badge is represented with the top strip in white which is correct for cars up until 1973 – in the case of the 911 this coincides with the change over to impact bumpers .

Having said that – car keyring manufacturers at the time were not too concerned about date correctness – and we have seen Porsche badges with white top strips still being offered into the 1980s .

The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive .  SMOSO    00/591   03/22
