PowerPlus Petroleum ? - original late 1950s or 1960s badge remounted onto a new leather keyfob

An original Powerplus keyfob badge which will have been produced in the late 1950s or 1960s which we have remounted inlaid into a new leather keyfob as can be seen in the photos.

When this keyring with this badge has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

It is not often that we list a keyring whose provenance we are unsure of – but this one of them.

Thankfully a customer in Devon has come to our rescue !

He has contacted us to say that he believes this badge is a PowerPlus Petrol brand badge and the diamond shape depicts a petrol pump globe.

He even kindly sent us a photo of the illuminated PowerPlus globe .

We are very grateful for his input .

The style of the badge & the mortal remains of the original leather keyfob which the badge came to us still attached to tell us that it dates from the late 1950s or early 1960s.

We had listed the keyring in our Indian motocycle section as Indian did produce their famous Indian Powerplus motorcycle – but that was decades before this badge was made and decades before any motorcycle ever had an ignition key to attach a keyring onto.

Even though it is now almost certain that the badge has nothing to do with Indian Powerplus we will leave it be as we are always very short of items for our Indian Motocycle section !

We had also listed it in our tractor section as although we can find no reference to a Ford Powerplus tractor – our years on farms in the late 1960s have left a hazy memory of the name ‘Powerplus’ being associated with a Ford Major tractor- once again we will leave the keyring in the tractor section anyway – because that’s where our customer found it !
