1 in stock
An original RAF Malcolm Clubs keyring which we would think will have been issued in the late 1960s .
We have just this one example of this keyring to offer – when it has been sold this listing will be cancelled .
What a lovely keyring – and with such an important & interesting history .
This keyring is in mint condition with a gilt plated vitreous enamel badge mounted onto a keyfob in genuine tan pigskin leather .
The gilt plating is still bright ( gilt plating will usually have ‘mellowed’ over the years ) and the vitreous enamelling is as fresh and lustrous as the day it was fired almost 50 years ago .
The reverse of the badge contains a serial number which will relate to the owner of the keyring together with a request for return in the event of the keyring being found .
The pigskin leather keyfob is quite something ………..pigskin was ( and is ) a luxurious material usually reserved for keyrings for prestige cars such as Aston Martin and Jaguar .
The Royal Air Force Malcolm Clubs were named in honour of Wing Commander Hugh Gordon Malcolm VC who was a Scottish airman and was awarded the highest British award for gallantry :- The Victoria Cross .
This was awarded posthumously after he lost his life aged 25 in a bombing raid on an enemy airfield in Tunisia North Africa during the second world war .
His legacy was The Malcolm Clubs named in his honour .
These were welfare clubs for RAF personnel which operated in several countries between 1943 and the early 1970s although the club at RAF Wittering continued until the 1990s .
The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive .
If you are not happy with your purchase for any reason or cancel your order – a full refund will be given.
