Range Rover – vitreous enamel badge inlaid into a new keyfob in black pigskin leather

A relatively new vitreous enamel Range Rover keyfob badge which will have been produced within the last few years which we have mounted and inlaid onto a keyfob in black pigskin leather as can be seen in the photos .

This is NOT an original vintage badge – it will have been produced just a few years ago and is not to be confused with an original vintage badge – this badge was made much later.

We have just this one keyring with this badge to offer  – when it has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

Superb quality ‘old school’ vitreous enamel badges like this one were produced in England and were available up until quite recently .

Sadly vitreous enamel badges like this one are apparently no longer produced in England .

New reproduction badges will now usually be produced in modern resin based enamel – not vitreous enamel like this one .

We have bonded the badge to a thin oversize brass plate and inlaid & stitched it into one of our keyfobs in genuine black pigskin leather – this is something  which we have been doing with badges like this one for many years – not always with pigskin leather of course.

Pigskin leather was ( and is ) a luxurious material which was occasionally used for keyfobs ( almost always for prestige cars )

It was always expensive and was prized for it’s appearance and hard wearing characteristics and was ideal for keyfobs which do receive a lot of handling .

Pigskin leather seems to be a thing of the past and very difficult to find in the grade needed for making keyfobs – the material which we have was sourced from a closed Midlands factory which had been using it for covering hip flasks and making wallets and keyrings .

Maybe one day in the future beautiful quality vitreous enamel badges like these will once again be made in England ……………………..but the areas where the workshops once stood have now generally been built over with housing estates and the craftsmen with their knowledge and skills have gone .
