1 in stock

An original Scammell  keyfob badge which will have been produced in the late 1960s which we have remounted onto a new pigskin leather keyfob as can be seen in the photos.

Just this one keyring to offer – when this keyring with this badge has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

A superb vitreous enamel Scammell 5th wheel trailers keyfob badge which came to us still mounted onto it’s original leather keyfob in tan pigskin leather but sadly that original keyfob was in a very worn condition so the badge had to be remounted onto a new keyfob – and we followed suit by treating the badge to a new keyfob in genuine tan pigskin leather .

The final listing photo shows the remains of the original pigskin leather keyfob which will be included with this keyring .

This is the only badge of it’s kind which we have ever seen & listed and keyrings with this badge were issued in January 1967 to commemorate Scammell’s fully articulated 5th wheel being produced at the new trailer division at Basingstoke .

It shows the pride & interest shown by owners & drivers of Scammell lorries & trailers at that time – a pride in the product which they drive which continues to this day amongst HGV drivers .

We have remounted the badge onto a new keyfob in tan pigskin leather – pigskin leather was ( and is ) a luxurious material sometimes used for keyfobs ( usually for prestige cars ) in the 1960s.

Very rarely used for commercials !

It was always expensive and was prized for it’s appearance and hard wearing characteristics and was ideal for keyfobs which do receive a lot of handling .

Pigskin leather seems to be a thing of the past and very difficult to find in the grade needed for making keyfobs – the material which we have was sourced from a closed Midlands factory which had been using it for covering hip flasks and making wallets and keyrings .

The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive.
