TAG Heuer 1000 vintage night diver wrist watch

Bought from a reputable watch dealer in USA a couple of years ago and worn regularly since .

Bought as a 980.031 watch but it was stated that the case back had been replaced at some time with a 980.020L Heuer case back which is completely compatible with this watch .

It was stated that the watch had been professionally serviced before I bought it and the crystal had been replaced – it still looks brand new.

It had been fitted with a new Swiss ETA movement with a i year guarantee ( which has now run out ) and a new bezel insert of their own manufacture which faithfully replicates the original sheen .

All seals ( case back, crown & crystal gasket ) had been replaced with a new screw down crown and tube assembly .

The black PVD coating is in almost flawless condition which is rare for these watches.

The dial is also in excellent condition with very minimal spotting and does still glow in the dark but not for long.

Taken into local dealer last week for a new battery so despite all seals etc having been replaced in USA the watch cannot now be regarded as being completely water resistant .

I have worn this watch on a regular basis over the last 2 years and it has been completely reliable and keeps absolutely perfect time.

Only had the battery replaced because I know they only last 2 years or so and for what bit it has cost would rather the new owner started afresh with a new battery .

The strap is obviously not an original item – it is simply a good quality leather strap.

Simply thinning my small collection of these watches down but will continue to wear a rather tatty one on a daily basis as have owned and worn these watches since they were new in the 1980s .
