An original vintage Triumph motorcycle keyfob badge which will have been produced during the 1960s which we have remounted onto a new leather keyfob in black leather as can be seen in the photos.
When this keyring with this badge has been sold this listing will be cancelled.
This keyring has an original Triumph motorcycle keyfob badge dating from the 1960s .
This badge is in very good condition – the cobalt blue vitreous enamel is completely intact with no cracks or chips .
The gilt plating has mellowed to give a most attractive soft ‘antique gold’ appearance – this badge looks it’s age .
We have remounted the badge onto a new keyfob in full grain black leather with a suitably ‘vintage’ appearance and have fitted a new splitring in a similar finish to the badge .
These keyfob ‘ drop ‘ badges ( like a drop of liquid ) in this lovely deep cobalt blue vitreous enamel were first produced by Sculthorp of London who went out of business in the mid 1960s and the badge dies were taken over by other manufacturers including Melsom Products Ltd of Birmingham who continued to produce the badge design until the early 1970s- but not in gilt like this one .
This badge will be an early one as it is in gilt and the manufacturer is unknown – almost certainly one of the Birmingham area badgemakers .
These cobalt blue ‘drop’ badges are the badges which we all associate with classic Triumph motorcycles .
Whilst many keyrings with these badges will have been produced at the time for the thousands of Triumph motorcycles on the roads in the 1970s we see very few survivors – particularly in the excellent condition that this badge is in .
Keyrings with these badges were used on open motorcycles in all weathers and very few keyrings or badges have survived intact .
We have listed very few keyrings with these badges in good condition like this one over the years .
This badge now safely remounted onto a fresh new keyfob in black leather can continue it’s travels along the highways & byways swinging from the ignition of a Bonneville or Tiger or any of the other superb classic bikes which Triumph produced in it’s heyday .
The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive.
