1 in stock
A Triumph Stag keyfob badge in brand new condition which will have been produced relatively recently for the classic car market which we have mounted onto a new leather keyfob as can be seen in the photos .
This is NOT an original vintage badge – it will have been produced relatively recently .
This badge has been produced in modern resin based enamel – not ‘old school ‘ vitreous enamel .
We have just this one keyring with this badge to offer – when it has been sold this listing will be cancelled.
The badge on this keyring would be correct for 1970 -1977 Triumph Stag but would be particularly appropriate for the later cars .
Superb quality ‘old school’ vitreous enamel badges were produced in Birmingham with ‘MADE IN ENGLAND’ marked on the reverse of the badges up until quite recently .
Almost all keyrings and keyfob badges for cars & bikes had been produced in England since the late 1950s – it had been quite an industry .
As with everything else – production of car & motorcycle keyrings then moved overseas with most badges then being produced in modern resin based enamel like this badge .
The enamel in this badge is resin based and the badge is no longer marked ‘ MADE IN ENGLAND ‘ on the reverse as it will no longer have been made in England .
The enamel is laid below the level of the plated metal badge detail – you can feel the detail on the badge with your fingers with the enamel being at a slightly lower level.
Apart from tradition and our regret that resin based enamel badges cannot be compared with the beauty of old school jewellery quality vitreous enamel badges :- these new badges do have a big advantage over traditional vitreous enamel badges …………….they do not crack or chip when dropped onto a hard surface .
We have mounted the badge onto a new leather keyfob in full grain black leather – so at least some sense of tradition has been maintained !
Whilst we are obviously traditionalists at heart we have to accept ‘progress ‘ and will need to embrace modern materials to a certain extent if we are to continue offering car & motorcycle keyrings for sale .
Original vitreous enamel badges are now a finite resource – apparently no more are being produced in England and if we restrict ourselves to dealing only with vitreous enamel badges then we draw a line which we will be unable to cross .
The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive .
