An original Triumph keychain badge which will have been produced in the 1950s which we have fitted onto a new nickel plated keychain.

Just this one example to offer -when this keychain has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

The vitreous enamel badge and tiny splitring are original items dating from the 1950s .

The nickel plated ‘snakechain’ and large splitring are new old stock items which we have fitted to the badge .

This is the only example of this early Triumph keychain badge which we have ever listed – a very rare item .

These tiny items were used on a daily basis and soon got lost or the keychain snapped and the badge was thrown away or was tucked away in the back of a drawer and forgotten about – which is probably what happened to this one .

The vitreous enamel badge is in superb condition with hand laid enamel and came to us without the original keychain which would have been a ‘snakechain’ just like the new one which we have fitted

These keychains were the very first car keyrings which were ever produced .

They preceded the keyrings with leather keyfobs which started to make an appearance in the very late 1950s.

This keychain would probably have been originally intended to be purchased for use with Triumph TR2 or TR3 .

Keychains like this one are well documented in Bud Marston’s ‘Vintage Jaguar Keyrings’ book which is featured at the beginning oy our Jaguar section here in this website shop.

This particular keychain badge bears the elusive stylised letter ‘B’ logo on the reverse – despite years of research Bud Marston never did discover who the maker was .

All that is known is that they were based in England ( probably established badgemakers in the jewellery quarter in Birmingham )

Also on the reverse of the badge is a letter ‘C’ within a circle .

Bud considers that this could have stood for ‘copywrite ‘ .

This is a very rare opportunity to purchase a keychain which is absolutely original & date correct for Triumph TR2 & TR3 .

Original keyrings with badges actually stating TR2 or TR3 are as rare as this keychain .

From memory we have listed just one for TR2 and one for TR3 over the years .

The keychain in the photos is the actual one which you will receive.
