Triumph TR3 TR4 – original vintage 1960s ‘Triumph World’ CUD torpedo keyring – collector’s item

NOW SOLD – sorry this keyring has now been sold and can no longer be ordered

An original Triumph torpedo keyring which will have been produced in the 1960s .

We have just this one example of this keyring to offer – when it has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

We can only remember having ever listed just one other original example of this Triumph World torpedo keyring like this one previously – and that was quite some time ago.

These keyrings are exceptionally rare – particularly in good condition like this example .

They were originally used in Triumph cars which were often open topped and daily drivers in all weather conditions and when the keyring became worn it was just discarded or lost .

Original Triumph World torpedo keyrings like this one are much rarer than original Jaguar torpedo keyrings which became so valuable & collectible that Bud Marston in USA has written a book entitled ‘Vintage Jaguar keyrings’ which is featured at the start of our Jaguar section here in this website shop.

This torpedo keyring was made by Castles Unit Developments Ltd of Castle Gate, Leicester ( CUD )

CUD were the only manufacturers of torpedo keyrings at the time and were famous from the late 1950s and right through the 1960s for the quality of their products which were exported worldwide.

At that time almost all keyrings for the world’s motor cars were made in England – it was quite an industry.

The convex Triumph World badge in vitreous enamel is one of the most intricate examples of vitreous enamelling which was ever fitted to a keyring .

The jewellery quality enamelling on this badge is perfect and without any flaw or damage – quite remarkable on a keyring of this age which has obviously been used and also we found it to be one of the most difficult to photograph to convey the condition which it is in !

The badge is mounted onto a torpedo keyfob in genuine hide which is also in excellent condition with a couple of unimportant slight ‘wrinkles’ in the leather which are hardly noticeable .

The splitring eyelet is as strongly mounted as when new and the stitching is all good & tight .

Gold embossed on the reverse with the details of the supplying Lincolnshire dealership – rather interesting in itself as we very rarely see keyrings embossed with Lincolnshire dealer’s details .

In the 1960s Lincolnshire was very much ‘ in the sticks ‘ and remains so…………….thankfully !

These keyrings were an absolute work of art and their quality has never been bettered .

This keyring will be original & correct for use with later 1955-1961 TR3 and 1961 -1967 TR4 – and also 1960s Herald, Vitesse, Spitfire  & 1300/ 2000 .

The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive. SMOSO   00/59     05/24
