Volkswagen – original vintage late 1960s/ early 1970s melsom key wallet

An original vintage Volkswagen key wallet which will have been produced in the late 1960s or early 1970s .

This key wallet is in excellent condition apart from a scrape in the bright nickel plating at 2 o’clock on the face of the badge and the right hand leg of the badge mount – this can be seen in the enlarged high resolution listing photos but is not particularly noticeable when viewed in the hand at life size.

The vitreous enamel badge features the Wolfsburg crest and is mounted onto genuine leather wallet embossed ‘Genuine Leather – Made in England’

The wallet opens with a press stud to reveal 4 sprung steel hooks for securing keys.

Key wallets were popular items in the 1960s & 1970s and were made for many makes of car – very few will have survived .

No well equipped Volkswagen owner would have been seen without one of these at the time !

This is the ultimate period accessory for that perfect car which has everything- or actually for use in a much later car as a ‘retro’ accessory.

Made by the very well known Melsom Products Ltd of Birmingham who also made keyrings for cars.

In the 1960s & 1970s almost all keyrings etc for the world’s cars were made in England – it was quite an industry.
