Wolseley - original 'Emu Series' vintage keychain dating from 1956 - collector's item

Original Wolseley keychains which will have been produced in 1955 or 1956 .

We have just 2 keychains and when both have been sold this listing will be cancelled.

These are the only examples of these keychains which we have ever seen and listed .

They are new old stock and came to us still attached to the original ‘Emu Series’ sales display card dated on the back March 26th 1956 handwritten in pencil !

Also on the display card were keychains for Jaguar, Humber & MG .

Whilst the keychains are new old stock having never been used they have been on the display card for 65 years and do look their age as can be seen in the photos.

The vitreous enamel badges are connected to the splitring by means of a nickel plated snake chain .

The enamel badges and snake chains are in good condition for their age whilst the splitrings are showing signs of considerable corrosion.

We will replace the splitrings with new old stock vintage splitrings if requested when you place the order .

These keychains were the very first car keyrings which were ever produced – we have never seen any for any make of vehicle that are older.

They preceded the keyrings with leather keyfobs which started to make an appearance in the very late 1950s.

These keychains would have been originally for use with any mid 1950s Wolseley motor car .

Sorry – we are not prepared to sell the keychains for the original price of 2/6 shown on the display card – 2 shillings & sixpence ( half a crown )  !!
